This site is dedicated to give the reader an inside look and truth about medicine in the US. The posts are by ER docs and a Psych doctor. All tales are true stories. Most are funny, sad, or crazy...but all are true. Excuse us if we also share our opinions on politics and sports:

Stupid phone call of the week.
Last night, a woman called the psychiatric ER, saying "My 14 year old grandson is walking down the street with a noose around his neck and pointing a loaded rifle at little kids. Do you think I should call the police?"
Probably says a little about my state of mind at the moment (morphing back to when I was in practice)but I SHRIEKED with laughter at this one. No, of course not at the situation. Do you have a "stuppidest phone call of the week" contest? We did at our outpatient mental health counseling agency. I have to say, I think this one of yours, though, would have been among top honors :-)
