Ouch!
I think the picture says it all. I did a digital block to anesthetize the finger then pulled it out pretty easily. No major damage, but made for a great pic.
Staple through the finger. I've done it by accident. It is fairly painless IMO as the finger is so quickly pierced. Going through the fingernail though is BAD though. Blood under fingernail. Blood clot, congeals, ripe smelling in time.
Digital block is just as painful as just pulling it out without anesthesia. I don't think the block is necessary. I've done removal of this kind many times with staples, needles, nails, etc. People just stick weird things to their fingers.
...and you can bill for it..ouch. That hurts even more.
No, I never had a problem convincing a patient about not using anesthesia, except for a 14 year old who afterwards told me I was right about the injection hurting just the same.

Unless its an optical illusion, and the Xray in back is the object of the picture.
Yes staple through finger. Not an illusion. That's not an xray behind her finger it's the bed sheet

Did that w/ a sewing machine needle in 7th grade Home Ec class.
Owx2...those digital blocks are no fun either...but they beat the alternative!
